Where to find us:

Drive 1/4 mile PAST Church Fork Picnic area on the main canyon road, approx 3 miles up the canyon, LEFT side of canyon road I'll put 2 large yellow cones in our parking lot, as landmarks for everyone by 7 AM.

This event has been one of the highlights of our spring season every year for 9 years!

Every year we get up early on Memorial Day and head for Millcreek Canyon for our annual Memorial Day Breakfast and Hike.  You can do one or the other OR both.  It's super fun so I hope you join us.  We generally attract 20 - 40 people, depending on the weather but regardless of weather conditions, we always show up!

This year we are inviting those who attend to help bring the food so it makes the whole event easier on everyone.  This is your opportunity to learn how to help set up and cook in the outdoors.

Let me know if you'll help us in some small way.

It's so beautiful in the morning, during the spring season to be in the canyons, before everyone else gets there, so if you have never done something like this, come!  Family members and/or friends are invited.  For your payment for breakfast, we ask that you bring something from the list below. (Just let me know a head of time what you are bringing.)

If you have any type of special breakfast dish that you would like to contribute, let me know.

Help us bring or provide the following services:

Help build our fire:  We start this at 7 am when we arrive.

(I have plenty of wood at my home so don't buy wood)

Help set up tables, grills, etc.

Help us clean up 8:15 - 8:30 am

Help cook eggs, bacon, ham, pancakes, sausage, etc.

Prepare a gallon size bag of pancake batter, ready to grill

Plates, cups, napkins, table cloth, utensils, etc.

Grills - if you have one to bring, let me know

Fruit i.e. grapes, pineapple, oranges, strawberries, raspberries, etc. -  bring ready to serve

3 dozen eggs beaten and put into a gallon size ziplock bag ready to scramble

Orange Juice (gallon)

Grapefruit Juice (1/2 gallon)

Apple Juice (gallon)

Milk (gallon)

Chocolate Milk (gallon)

Hot Chocolate OR Apple Cider Packets

Condiments: ketchup, salt, pepper, salsa,

Pancake Toppings (Syrups i.e. Blueberry, Maple, Chocolate, also Whipped Cream, Butter, Sliced strawberries or other assorted fruits, etc.)

Itinerary:

Arrive at  7 am to start the fire and set up

Start cooking from 7:15 am -  8:15 am

Serve breakfast from 7:30 - 8:15 am

Hike: Walk from the breakfast area at 8:30 am to the trail nearby

An easy and moderate hike will be offered for those planning to hike.

Either bring your food assignment to me a head of time OR to our canyon picnic site before 7:30 am.

8:30 am Hike:

Those who plan to hike will meet at the breakfast area and leave from there at 8:30 am.  Skip the breakfast and come just for the hike if you prefer.  The trail head is within walking distance.  You decide which level of hike you want. Dogs may go on the hike but must be kept on a leash farther away from our breakfast area.  Plan on finishing by 12 noon UNLESS you want to hike longer and we'll make sure you know about others who want a longer hike before we start.
