This is a very beautiful hike! Some of us just scouted this out last Tuesday. For those who come, you won't be disappointed.
Meet either at our regular meeting place before 8:30 am at 6200 So. location OR meet in front of the entrance at Little Dell Reservoir at 8:45 am.
To get to Little Dell Reservoir:
Take I-80 East (Parleys Canyon) Get off at East Canyon exit. Turn left at the stop sign. Continue on that same road until you see the entrance of the Reservoir. Pull over on the side of the Canyon Road NEAR the entrance to Little Dell Reservoir. At that point, Mike Lucero, my main assistant and lead for this hike, will get in front of the cars. Follow him up the canyon to the big hair-pin curve, which is a few more miles.There are some good parking spots where he is going. It's just a little further up the road than Affleck Park.
For those who want an EASY, gentle trail with not much elevation, Mike will have you start walking on the Mormon Trail toward Affleck Park.
For those who want MORE MODERATE elev. gain, Mike will take you a cross the Canyon Road and start hiking up the trail toward Big Mtn. Most of the group may want to turn around at the top of Big Mountain. (only 1.5 miles one way)
For those who want a longer hike, they can get on one of the trails at Big Mountain. There are 3 to choose from. Make sure you regroup at the top of Big Mtn. to see who wants to go further and who wants to turn around.
I'll take you to a new place in the Wasatch Mountains every week, so come often.
We start gathering at 8 am for a short Waterfall Hiking Orientation, eat bagels and organize carpools.
We'll leave our meeting place at 8:30 am.
Trailheads are generally within 10 - 20 minutes of our meeting place.
All abilities are welcome, so please join us!
You can drive to the trailhead and leave early if you prefer.
We finish by 12 noon unless stated otherwise.
Bring 1 - 2 liters of water, snack, camera, hat.
