TIPS for working members:

  • Get to know the garden coordinators by trying to come when they will be there. They are working so hard and would love any help you can give them!
  • Check garden blog posts to learn about the most urgent work OR contact your garden coordinator to find out how you can help.
  • Work in any of the gardens you feel comfortable working in.  We greatly appreciate your help.
  • You will receive harvest from a variety of gardens as you help us with the gardens.
  • If it's possible, start with one garden of your choice and be consistent by picking a time and day when you can come and work in the garden on a regular basis.  If there are other gardens in need of more help, will let you know.  You can always adjust or cancel your "shift", as needed.  Plan to work as long as you like.
  • If your coordinator is expecting you on a certain day or time and you can't come, just let him/her know.
  • Once you know what needs to be done, feel free to work any morning or evening, Monday - Saturday, during daylight hours.  You are not restricted to working only on the scheduled group work dates.
  • Contact the garden coordinator prior to working in any garden. They will let you know what work is the most pressing, and will suit it to your own skill and abilities.
  • You don't have to wait to work in a garden IF you.... 1) have contacted the garden coordinator via email, text, phone message, etc.  2) have at least left a message stating what you plan to work on in that garden
  • All of our coordinators are eager to get to know you as well, so work with them as you are able.

Wear work clothes that can get dirty.

Bring work gloves, water bottle and snack if you like.

If possible, before you arrive, learn more about what we do by touring our gardens online, etc. click here to watch our new, short, 2012 Garden Orientation Video.
