The progress a few people can make in a garden

Sheryl McGlochlin - Tuesday, June 07, 2011

I could write about MANY people who should be in this blog post but I'll feature just a few right now.  I hope to be featuring a LOT more of our members in the coming months.

Lorelle and Carol,

both seniors and hard workers, last Monday night, laid down 6 rows of black plastic in our 3 foot wide rows in 2 hours.  Each row was 66 feet long.  That's a lot of black plastic.  Once it was laid down, they cover part of it with soil and/or stake it down, so it won't blow away.

Devin, my son, age 27,

a few weeks ago helped me, in the Taylorsville Garden, plant 38 tomato plants in 90 minutes.

15 men, women and children

(half of them under 15 years old) worked hard in the South Jordan A Garden planting over 150 salad greens in 90 minutes!

This is probably the most exciting part of community gardening - seeing how fast things come together with just a few people!
