    MEALS & FOOD:

Food has always brought people together. Tapping into the talents, knowledge and experience of others when it comes to food is awesome! Regardless of where I travel it has been a fun tradition to find local food and then cook delicious meals for our guests. It’s a valuable self reliance skill to learn and practice often. In my “Feed a Family” classes I taught for several years, the curriculum focused on preparing delicious, easy, healthy, hearty meals in just minutes using our own kitchen, where or what ever that may be. As I travel, my lodging always includes a well-equipped kitchen. Opportunities to cook for and feed people in Switzerland, Denmark, Iceland, Caribbean, Hawaii, Italy, and many locations in the US along with primitive camping settings have been rewarding and memorable. Cooking Dutch Oven Dinners is also fun! Being able to quickly observe and assess local resources and products available is a fun activity for me. Asking for help in a grocery store, learning from local chefs and from guests who travel with us are all important resources. Guests may be able to customize their meal easier at home than in a restaurant since many of our entrees are served “buffet style”. Dining out the first and last night also creates a good balance for us as well.
