Dietary Habits:  Foods affect all aspects of health; physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual

Building foods:  Concentrate your diet with these foods to heal from serious diseases or for more energy. If raw foods give you gas, either steam them or cook them.  Use these foods as your main staple. 

  • Organic Foods
  • Vegetables
  • Raw Foods
  • Fresh, ripe fruits
  • Green foods
  • Raw seeds, raw nuts

Maintaining foods:  These generally don’t particularly improve your health.  Use them in moderation. 

  • Breads (use whole grains)
  • Cooked foods (they provide few or no enzymes)
  • Spicy foods (they may affect digestion)
  • Meats (use sparingly)
  • Legumes (they can produce gas)
  • Dairy (poorly absorbed, mucus forming, can cause lactose problems)
  • Some frozen foods (they offer few or no enzymes)

Foods to eliminate for allergies are: 

  • Wheat - some people require gluten-free
  • Dairy
  • Sweets
  • Soda Pop

Destructive foods:  These can contribute to disease!  

  • Tobacco (very hard on your health and your wallet)
  • Alcohol (emotional escape, source of sugar)
  • Fast foods (very little nutrition and high cost)
  • Over the counter drugs (more drugs, less health)
  • Prescription drugs (improve your health with the building foods)
  • Recreational drugs (is this your emotional escape?)
  • Peanut Butter (most brands are rancid)
  • Processed foods (contain lots of preservatives)
  • Stimulants (the more you use, the less energy you have)
  • Pork (poorly digested, lots of uric acid)
  • Sugar (may be a hormonal problem, contributes to osteoporosis)
  • Soda Pop (contributes to osteoporosis)
  • Margarine (it is a trans fatty acid, use butter instead)
  • Canned foods (very little food value and no enzymes)
  • Coffee (very acidic and may contribute to gout or kidney problems)
  • Fried foods (toxic and may impair memory and concentration)

It's September and we are in the middle of an abundant harvest!  If you join today, you'll start receiving a share of the harvest!  As a working garden member, you can work in our gardens 12 months out of the year!  Non-working CSA garden members start receiving weekly shares immediately!

Work at local Farmer's Markets, representing our Community Garden Group

With over 16 gardens, we need a LOT of help with all the produce that we are currently growing!  The local Farmer's Markets are one of the best ways to help us find additional members to work in our Community Garden Group!  We aren't interested in selling much produce since the bulk of our produce goes to our members, but we need to get our name out there, so we can find others who are willing to help us work in the gardens and receive a portion of the harvest!  

We are excited to let the public know that we are the ONLY "working" and "non-working" *CSA in the state of Utah! 

Other *CSA's may invite members to work occasionally on their farms but we depend solely on our members to work since there are no employees.  Eleven months of the year are spent working in our gardens!

Our mission is to teach people "how to grow their own food" while supplying them with plenty of fresh, local harvest throughout the growing season (at least 6 months).

If you are willing to help represent us at local farmer's markets, please let me know.    

*CSA = Community Supported Agriculture
